There Is A Square Footage Problem For Trump Presidential Library In Miami. Boeing 747-800 Needs 50% Of Area (And 6 Floors Of Height). Will Aircraft Charters Be Revenue Stream For Trump Family?

There Is A Square Footage Problem For Trump Presidential Library- Boeing 747-800 Aircraft Requires 50% Of Area To Display.  And Six-Floors Worth Of Height.

State Of Florida Gifting 2.63 Acres (114,562.8 Square Feet) Owned By Miami Dade College For Trump Presidential Library.  Property Adjacent To Freedom Tower

Boeing 747-800 Aircraft Gifted By State Of Qatar To United States Government For Use As One Of Three Designated Air Force One When President Of The United States (POTUS) Is Aboard, Is To Be “Transferred” To The Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation On 20 January 2029

On Sept. 23, Ron DeSantis, Governor of the State of Florida (2019-2026), offered 2.63 acres in downtown Miami as the location for the Donald J. Trump presidential library.  The acreage is owned by Miami-Dade College, which uses it for parking on the adjacent campus.

The property is adjacent to The Freedom Tower which from 1962 to 1974 was a processing center for citizens of the Republic of Cuba who migrated to Florida.

In 2024, the Florida State Legislature approved legislation signed into law replacing local municipality oversight and replacing it with state oversight of any presidential library.

A Boeing 747-8 aircraft has a length of 76.3 meters (250 feet 2 inches), a wingspan of 68.4 meters (224 feet 7 inches), and height of 19.4 meters (63 feet 6 inches).  To display a Boeing 747-800 aircraft requires 5,218.9 meters (56,219.9 square feet) or 1.29 acres.

2.63 acres (total area for the library campus) minus 1.29 acres (total area of the aircraft) provides 58,342.9 square feet for a structure(s), pedestrian walkways, concessions, and parking.

A six-floor building is typically between 60 and 84 feet tall, with each floor ranging from 10 feet in height to 14 feet in height.  If the aircraft is installed within the 2.63-acre area, then the tail end of the aircraft would be positioned toward a corner of the 2.63-acre area.

A more likely location to display the aircraft will be at Miami International Airport (MIA) which is approximately a fifteen-minute drive from the Miami Dade College/Freedom Tower location or at Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) which is approximately a ninety-minute drive from the Miami Dade College/Freedom Tower location.  PBI is approximately a ten-minute drive from the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, the residence of Donald Trump, President of the United States (2017-2021 and 2025-2029).

The Boeing 747-800 aircraft gifted to the United States government will require an estimated US$500+ million to dismantle and then reassemble for the security/intelligence inspection, installation of communication equipment, and installation of military equipment.

There is expectation that from 12:00 pm on 20 January 2029, the now former president will use the aircraft to travel throughout the world- particularly to locations where New York, New York-based The Trump Organization has interests, and the former president has personal interests.

Not surprising would be for the Boeing 747-800 aircraft to be available for charter and for passengers paying a super-premium to travel with the former president to various locations- including those with properties (Scotland golf courses for example); and take “flights to nowhere” where passengers travel for a few hours with him for lunch or dinner and then return to PBI or MIA.  An important question is who would control revenue from use of the aircraft?  Would United States taxpayers be reimbursed?  Would the former president retain the revenue for himself?
