Part III: A Very Active AmCham Russia Hosts Networking Event At Hotel In Moscow Formerly Managed By Marriott International.   

The American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham Russia) is hosting a networking event on 3 April 2024 at the Samfar Grand Hotel in Moscow. 

Formerly Moscow Marriott Grand Hotel, the property was until March 2022 managed by Bethesda, Maryland-based Marriott International, Inc. (2023 revenue US$23.71 billion) when the company suspended management agreements with approximately thirty Russian Federation-based properties. 

“The five-star Safmar Grand Moscow (ex-Marriott Grand) opened its doors to guests in 1997 The hotel is conveniently located on Tverskaya Street, close to Moscow's most beautiful historical sites and in the center of the capital's cultural life.”  The hotel “has 385 rooms, including suites, and three executive floors. The hotel has its own sports and wellness center with a swimming pool, 24-hour business center. Two restaurants and a lobby bar offer international and Russian cuisine. The hotel has 10 conference halls with a total area of over 850 sq. m.” 

Moscow, Russia-based Safmar Group (https://www.safmargroup.ru) reported revenue of approximately US$23.65 billion) in 2023.  From Wikipedia: “Industrial and Financial Group SAFMAR is a Russian multisectoral conglomerate.  The Group includes oil producing, oil processing, coal and potash companies, financial assets, retail chains, construction and development holdings, companies engaged in commercial property management, logistics centers, hotels, media resources among which are radio stations and TV channels… Leads in hospitality business in Moscow, it owns 9 luxury hotels in the capital of Russia as well as the hotels in Minsk and Astana, among which are National Hotel, Intercontinental Tverskaya, Sheraton Palace, Marriott Grand, Marriott Royal Aurora, Marriott Tverskaya, Hilton Leningradsakaya, Holiday Inn Lesnaya, Holiday Inn Sushevskiy, Renaissance Minsk, Astana Marriott. Total capacity of these hotels makes up 2,794 rooms.” 

Safmar Group is not listed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) as a Specially Designated National (SDN).
