Does U.S. Military Attack Upon Targets In Iran With The Goal Of Speeding Towards Peace Provide Russia With A Trump-Endorsed Rationale To Increase Attacks Upon Targets In Ukraine With Goal Of Speeding Towards Peace?
The Putin-Trump Telephone Conversation
On 21 June 2024, the armed forces of the United States deployed six Northrup B-2 Spirit “stealth bomber” aircraft to launch twelve GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) “bunker busters” onto the Fordow nuclear facility in Iran and United States navy submarines to launch thirty Tomahawk missiles onto the Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities in Iran.
For the government of Ukraine, the decision by Donald Trump, President of the United States (2017-2021 and 2025-2029), to escalate dramatically- and perhaps decisively, the use of military force as a means to hasten the goal of achieving peace- regardless of whether the Islamic Republic of Iran and the State of Israel and the United States of America share a goal for peace, is not the message that Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine (2019-2024; term extended due to imposition of martial law in 2022) will be comfortable to hear today.
Among the statements by President Trump was “But if peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed and skill.”
For Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation (2000-2008 and 2012-2030), he may view both the strategy and the tactics deployed by the Trump-Vance Administration (2025-2029) as a proper use of “escalate to de-escalate” theory. More significantly, however, may be President Putin thanking President Trump for providing guidance for ending what President Trump has referred to as the “war that would never have started” had he been in the Oval Office at The White House on 24 February 2022.
“The theory of “escalate to de-escalate” suggests that increasing the intensity of a conflict, often through the use of limited force or threats, can ultimately lead to a resolution and a decrease in hostilities. This strategy relies on convincing the opposing side that continuing the conflict would be too costly, thus motivating them to accept the escalating party's terms.”
From the perspective of President Trump, the government of Ukraine is the obstacle to peace because it will not recognize “realities on the ground” and surrender the territories occupied (whole and in part) by the armed forces of the Russian Federation, particularly those occupied since 2014 and cease wasting lives and money to obtain what is likely unattainable.
From the perspective of President Trump, the government of the Russian Federation is an obstacle to peace because it will not recognize “realities on the ground” and accept the territories (whole and in part) occupied by the armed forces of the Russian Federation, particularly those occupied since 2014 and cease seeking additional real estate which is wasting lives and money and delaying the removal of sanctions and reintegration of the Russian Federation into global commercial, economic, financial, political, and social arenas.
Might This Be The Conversation?
If President Putin speaks by telephone with President Trump and delivers this message and question, how might President Trump respond?
“Donald, this is Vladimir. You have had quite a week. I have been briefed upon your decisive and bold decision to attack the nuclear facilities in Iran with the specific goal of hastening peace amongst Iran, Israel, and the United States.
As you know, Russia and Iran have longstanding commercial, economic, financial, military, and political relations. So, I would rather you believe that doing what you did was not necessary and the peace process could have continued. But, I recognize that we each must make decisions based upon what we believe to be in the best interests of our people- those who elected us and the taxpayers who provide the resources; of course, along with hoping to serve the interests of all countries.
So, Donald, using the rational of what you did in Iran, I am planning to initiate a massive military strike upon targets in Ukraine with the goal of forcing the government of Ukraine to cease their defensive and offensive military activities, stop fighting and negotiate a peace. I appreciate that their view of peace with the Russian Federation is not necessarily my view, but doing to Ukraine what you did to Iran may be the only remaining pathway to stop the death and destruction. Sometimes, as you did, we must go it alone. Donald, your thoughts?”

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

“Thank you very much. A short time ago, the U.S. military carried out massive, precision strikes on the three key nuclear facilities in the Iranian regime. Fordo, Natanz and Esfahan. Everybody heard those names for years as they built this horribly destructive enterprise. Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror.
Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not. Future attacks would be far greater and a lot easier.
For 40 years, Iran has been saying. Death to America, death to Israel. They have been killing our people, blowing off their arms, blowing off their legs, with roadside bombs. That was their specialty. We lost over 1,000 people and hundreds of thousands throughout the Middle East, and around the world have died as a direct result of their hate in particular. So many were killed by their general, Qassim Soleimani. I decided a long time ago that I would not let this happen. It will not continue.
I want to thank and congratulate Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu. We worked as a team like perhaps no team has ever worked before, and we’ve gone a long way to erasing this horrible threat to Israel.
I want to thank the Israeli military for the wonderful job they’ve done. And most importantly, I want to congratulate the great American patriots who flew those magnificent machines tonight, and all of the United States military on an operation the likes of which the world has not seen in many, many decades.
Hopefully, we will no longer need their services in this capacity. I hope that’s so. I also want to congratulate the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan ‘Razin’ Caine, spectacular general, and all of the brilliant military minds involved in this attack.
With all of that being said, this cannot continue. There will be either peace, or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days. Remember, there are many targets left. Tonight’s was the most difficult of them all, by far, and perhaps the most lethal. But if peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed and skill. Most of them can be taken out in a matter of minutes. There’s no military in the world that could have done what we did tonight. Not even close. There has never been a military that could do what took place just a little while ago.
Tomorrow, General Caine, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will have a press conference at 8 a.m. at the Pentagon. And I want to just thank everybody. And, in particular, God. I want to just say, we love you, God, and we love our great military. Protect them. God bless the Middle East. God bless Israel and God bless America. Thank you very much. Thank you.”
