President Trump Confirms Starvation In Gaza
Prime Minister Netanyahu Acting As Residents Of Gaza Not Starving. They Are On A Voluntary Healthy Cleanse And Fast, Like At A Spa
Who Is The Loneliest Head Of State? His Tilting Windmills Are Real
Last week, Donald Trump, 47th President of the United States (2025-2029), confirmed the obvious that there is starvation amongst the 2.3 million inhabitants of Gaza and that he wanted to have the “brutal war” end.
“We’re looking at Gaza. And we’re going to get that taken care of. A lot of people are starving.” Donald Trump
His acknowledgement was like a person entering a casino and proclaiming shock to find people gambling.
“[W]e do not want to see a humanitarian crisis, and we will not allow it to occur on President Trump’s watch.” Steven Witkoff, Assistant to the President, Senior Advisor, and Special Envoy (2025- )
When the President of the United States shares that “a lot of people are starving” doesn’t that statement by definition equate to a humanitarian crisis? Demonstrative to learn how “starving” and “humanitarian crisis” are defined by Mr. Witkoff. Arriving too late for the Sunday buffet at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida?
“I don’t think there’s any daylight between President Trump’s position and Prime Minister Netanyahu’s position.” Steven Witkoff, Assistant to the President, Senior Advisor, and Special Envoy (2025- )
For nearing three months, the government of the State of Israel has refused to permit into Gaza food, medical supplies, and other forms of humanitarian assistance. The rationale is to pressure Hamas to release remaining hostages (those alive and remains of the dead) and to prevent Hamas from using food, medical supplies, and other forms of humanitarian assistance for their own use.
On 18 May 2025, the following statement was issued by the government of the State of Israel: “On the recommendation of the IDF, and out of the operational need to enable the expansion of the intense fighting to defeat Hamas, Israel will introduce a basic amount of food to the population in order to ensure that a famine crisis does not develop.”
The Israel Defense Force (IDF) estimated Hamas had approximately 30,000 fighters prior to 7 October 2023 and now has approximately 18,000 fighters in Gaza. Just how much food, medical supplies, and other forms of humanitarian assistance could Hamas divert and use from trucks arriving in Gaza with supplies for 2.3 million residents? How would they steal all of it, eat all of it, use all of it, and where would they store all of it? There are few structures remaining in Gaza.
An increasing number of heads of state, heads of government, and organizations, maintain some of the decisions or all of the decisions by the government of the State of Israel during the last twenty months have violated international humanitarian standards, international laws, international norms, international treaties, were war crimes, and contrary to words contained within the books- Bible, Koran, and Torah.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, whose sources of data include the organization Hamas, more than 53,000 men, women, and children have died in Gaza since 7 October 2023 with a majority reported as women and children. Some of these statistics include Hamas fighters but the Palestinian Ministry of Health does not separate the civilian and fighter data.
Ethnic cleansing and genocide are terms frequently used to describe decisions by the government of the State of Israel- and used to describe how decisions by the Biden-Harris Administration (2021-2025) and Trump-Vance Administration (2025-2029) enabled and continue to enable decisions by the government of the State of Israel. The Trump-Vance Administration places complete responsibility on Hamas for deaths and destruction in Gaza. Nothing attributed to decisions by the government of the State of Israel.
The New York, New York-based United Nations (UN) reported that all inhabitants of Gaza are at “high risk” of famine and 20% are starving.
Oxfam America: “Famine is a widespread scarcity of food that leads to severe hunger and malnutrition in a significant portion of the population. It can be caused by various factors, including war, natural disasters, crop failures, economic crises, and government policies. To be declared a famine, certain conditions must be met, such as 1 in 5 households facing extreme food shortages, more than 30% of the population being acutely malnourished, and at least two of every 10,000 people dying from starvation each day. The consequences of famine can include increased mortality, malnutrition, and the spread of diseases.”
UN: “At least 20 percent (one-fifth) of households face extreme food shortages. More than 30 percent of children suffer from acute malnutrition. At least two out of every 10,000 people or four out of every 10,000 children die each day from starvation or hunger-related causes.”
The meaning of “get that taken care of” by President Trump is of concern because for some his interest offers hope while for others his interest foretells doom.
“I have concepts for Gaza that I think are very good, make it a freedom zone, let the United States get involved and make it just a freedom zone.” Donald Trump
The government of the State of Israel too has a plan for Gaza. And that plan is supported by President Trump.
“We are destroying more and more homes, they have nowhere to return to. The only inevitable outcome will be the desire of Gazans to emigrate outside of the Gaza Strip.” Benjamin Netanyahu
Its foundation is to remove all 2.3 million inhabitants of Gaza, remove the remaining remnants of its infrastructure, construct a “new” Gaza complete with roads, high-rise residences, high-end retail, golf clubs, services, yacht clubs, airport (with a 10,000-foot runway capable of handling a certain Boeing 747-800 aircraft?), highspeed trains, and particularly hotels with internationally-renowned hotel brand names. One possibility? From New York, New York-based The Trump Organization which has nearby hotels in Oman and United Arab Emirates; and is developing golf, hotel, and residential properties in Oman, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates.
Important to note that there has been no mention by President Trump or Prime Minister Netanyahu that the workers required to construct the “new” Gaza and maintain the “new” Gaza would be current residents of Gaza.
Unspoken is they would be citizens of the State of Israel or citizens of other “friendly” countries. The employment application might resemble this: non-Muslim, light complexion, attractive, not related to a terrorist or potential terrorist, educated at a “good” school, fluency in English and Hebrew, and not from “shithole” countries as President Trump reportedly defined them in 2018.
Thus far, President Trump and to some extent the government of the State of Israel believe the combination of forced and voluntary departures from Gaza should be viewed as a reward, a new start, a rebirth, rejuvenation, rather than a 21st Century version of extermination and genocide by eminent domain.
“Eminent domain refers to the power of the government to take private property and convert it into public use, referred to as a taking. The Fifth Amendment in the United States Constitution provides that the government may only exercise this power if they provide just compensation to the property owners.”
Donald Trump, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Trump Organization, advocated for the use of eminent domain for the benefit of private companies. In 1998, The Trump Organization sought to have property in Atlantic City, New Jersey, available for additional landscaping and parking, including an area for guest limousines.
“I happen to agree with it 100%. if you have a person living in an area that’s not even necessarily a good area, and … government wants to build a tremendous economic development, where a lot of people are going to be put to work and … create thousands upon thousands of jobs and beautification and lots of other things, I think it happens to be good.” Donald Trump
“Cities have the right to condemn for the good of the city. Everybody coming into Atlantic City sees this terrible house instead of staring at beautiful fountains and beautiful other things that would be good.” Donald Trump
The use of eminent domain by the government of the State of Israel to confiscate throughout the internationally-recognized territory of Gaza all commercial, properties, all residential properties, all farmland, and all vacant land from organizations, commercial entities, and individuals, as well as properties owned by the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) would be the largest and potentially most legally fraught use of eminent domain in history.
The Trump-Vance Administration already has an individual who would likely file a divinely-inspired Amicus Curiae (friend-of-the-court) brief with any relevant judicial court supporting not only claims of eminent domain by the government of the State of Israel, but also to support the position by the government of the State of Israel that residents of Gaza, Palestinians, do not have standing as plaintiffs and thus have no place within legal proceedings. They may have been harmed, but as individuals or group (class), they do not exist.
“There’s really no such thing as a Palestinian.” Mike Huckabee, United States Ambassador to the State of Israel
The IDF invaded Gaza in response to a 7 October 2023 incursion by members of Hamas and other groups which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the taking and returning to Gaza of approximately 251 people. Some hostages did not survive and others, but not all, were released.
The government of the State of Israel continues to transition from a public focus upon a return of hostages as the primary mission in Gaza to the primary mission in Gaza being the destruction of the Hamas, the destruction of Gaza, the removal of residents of Gaza, and then the return of the hostages.
“It’s [return of hostages] a very important goal. The war has a supreme goal, and the supreme goal is victory over our enemies, and this we will achieve.” Benjamin Netanyahu
“I am quite shocked how suddenly the issue of the hostages is no longer at the top of the priority list and at the top of the news. Bringing the hostages home, down to the last one.” Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel
Evident from statements and decisions taken by the heads of state and heads of government in the largest Muslim countries by population and the largest Muslim countries measured by economic activity (wealth) with issues relating to Gaza, Palestine, and Palestinians, that their collective grieving for the 2.3 million residents of Gaza and collective grievances towards the government of the State of Israel do not rise sufficiently to deliver discomfort onto the government of the State or Israel, to the citizens of the State of Israel, and to the economy of the State of Israel. So, too goes for the leadership and members of the Brussels, Belgium-based twenty-seven (27) country European Union (EU).
In response to the 22 February 2022 invasion of Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation, leadership of the EU accepted that an appropriate response to decisions by the government of the Russian Federation would require the approximately 450 million residents of the EU to accept commercial, economic, and financial pain to demonstrate resolve and support to the government of Ukraine.
With decisions by the State of Israel relating to Gaza, how many governments have disrupted diplomatic relations as the EU did with the Russian Federation? Disrupted commercial, economic, and financial relations as the EU did with the Russian Federation? Suspended air carrier services as the EU did with the Russian Federation? Inflicted any meaningful discomfort? Close air space to official aircraft? Only one head of state has implemented some of these and those decisions have negatively impacted his country. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkiye (2014- ).
Some might suggest that like the character Don Quixote in the 1605/1615 novel The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha written by Miguel de Cervantes, President Erdogan is “tilting at windmills”- fighting against imaginary enemies or problems. The enemies and problems afflicting and infecting the 2.3 million residents of Gaza are real, horribly real. His challenge is to retain the energy and continue to ask why others constrain their anger to words.
Like Juror #8 played by Henry Fonda in in the 1957 motion picture Twelve Angry Men, President Erdogan is alone for now. Over time, Juror #8 methodically transforms the discussion and the votes of the other jurors. Lee J. Cobb, who played Juror #3, holds to his opposite position to the very end, maintaining it is his right- and it is. By the end of the motion picture, what had been eleven to one to convict becomes a unanimous verdict of not guilty. President Erdogan may not succeed in swinging all views of other heads of state and heads of government, but he will nevertheless have done what was right by combining the motivations of Juror #8 and Juror #3.
President Erdogan has at least matched most of his rhetoric with decisions. But, while his voice remains the loudest, his journey remains the loneliest.
Reinforcing the isolation of the government of Turkiye was the joint statement from the 34th Arab League Summit in Baghdad, Iraq, asking the international community to “to assume their moral and legal responsibilities to pressure for an end to the bloodshed and ensure the unhindered entry of urgent humanitarian aid to all areas in need in Gaza” and that displacement or expulsion was “a grave violation of the principles of international law and international humanitarian law, a crime against humanity, and ethnic cleansing.” Their collective outrage is better defined as constrained anxiety.
Arab League members: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordon, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestinian Authority, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
Neither the State of Israel nor the United States are signatories to the Rome Statute which manages The Hague, Netherlands-based International Criminal Court (ICC). The United States does participate in The Hague, Netherlands-based International Court of Justice (ICJ), but the State of Israel has not consented to ICJ jurisdiction.
Arab League members have maintained that for various reasons, most importantly due to the likelihood of domestic political consequences of adding population and concerns as to how those additional persons would conduct themselves and use resources, that they do not want to be the final receptacles for residents of Gaza.
However, there is an encroaching reality for all heads of state and heads of government who have an interest in the final reckoning for Gaza.
The IDF continues to reduce the size of Gaza- with inhabitable areas nearing 30% of what existed before 7 October 2023. A problem results when eliminating almost all infrastructure (communication, electricity, gas, sanitation, water) and housing for 2.3 million residents. Measured in square meters, each resident of Gaza has approximately 70% less space than they had before 7 October 2023. How do 2.3 million survive with 70% less square footage absent just about everything along with no educational facilities, employment opportunities, and healthcare facilities?
”This time, the operational method is completely different: not raids, but rather occupation, cleansing and holding the territory until Hamas is destroyed. Along the way, we are destroying everything that is left of the Gaza Strip, because everything there is one big city of terror.” Bezalel Smotrich, Minister of Finance
The answer is they do not and that is the goal. The IDF will continue to push the population south and eventually the choices for 2.3 million people will be swim into the Mediterranean Sea, depart by boat using the Mediterranean Sea, or rush and dismantle by force border crossings into Egypt and Jordan.
At that moment, government leadership in Amman and Cairo have a choice- let them in or shoot at them. For some of those people, shot and killed may be the better option. The despair will have ended.
Which means those who seek a two-state solution, a State of Palestine consisting of the West Bank and Gaza, should expect to be disappointed.
An intriguing political decision for the PNA may be to have the approximately 5.2 million people residing in the West Bank and Gaza renounce their citizenship and statehood aspirations and request citizenship (with voting rights) in the State of Israel (population approximately 9.5 million). Then the government of the State of Israel, and the taxpayers in the State of Israel, will be responsible for providing to residents of Gaza and the West Bank the same standard of living- education, social services, employment opportunities, travel access, and ballot access.
The government of the State of Israel will not like it and voters in the State of Israel may fear it, but there would be international support for it.
What is known: The war in Gaza will conclude when enough people have died. To date, not enough people have died.
